Roblox Gamepass Tax Calculator: See Your Real Earnings After the 30% Fee

You set a gamepass price. A player buys it. Roblox takes 30% before the Robux ever hits your balance.

This Roblox gamepass tax calculator shows your net Robux per sale and your monthly revenue if you’re tracking toward a target number of sales. Enter your listing price below to see what you actually keep, what Roblox takes, and what that converts to in USD via DevEx.

How the Roblox gamepass tax works

Roblox charges a 30% marketplace fee on every gamepass sale. Flat rate, no exceptions.

Formula: Net Robux = FLOOR(Price × 0.70)

You keep 70% of whatever you listed. Always. The FLOOR means Roblox rounds down so if the math produces a decimal, it goes to Roblox, not you. On larger amounts this barely matters. On a 25-Robux gamepass, you feel it.

This Roblox gamepass tax applies to game passes, developer products, clothing, catalog items, and private server subscriptions. The one thing it does NOT apply to: Premium Payouts Roblox’s engagement-based revenue share for games with Premium-subscribed players. That’s the only tax-free Robux income stream on the platform.

Gamepass tax vs. Pls Donate tax — what’s the difference?

TypeRoblox feeGame cutTotal taxYou keep
Regular gamepass30%0%30%70%
Inside Pls Donate30%10%40%60%

A standard gamepass sold via Roblox.com or inside your own game: 30%, you keep 70%.

A gamepass sold inside Pls Donate: 40% total. Roblox still takes its 30%, then the Pls Donate developer takes an additional 10% as a platform commission. That extra 10% only applies inside donation-game environments, not on regular gamepass sales.

How much should you charge to earn a specific amount?

Most creators price forward: “I’ll list at 1,000 Robux, what do I get?” The smarter move is backward: “I want 700 Robux per sale, what do I list at?”

Reverse formula: Listing Price = CEILING(Target ÷ 0.70)

  • Want 700 Robux? → CEILING(700 ÷ 0.70) = CEILING(1,000) = 1,000 Robux ✓
  • Want 1,000 Robux? → CEILING(1,000 ÷ 0.70) = CEILING(1,428.57) = 1,429 Robux
  • Want 350 Robux? → CEILING(350 ÷ 0.70) = CEILING(500) = 500 Robux ✓

CEILING means you round up, which protects against FLOOR rounding eating into your target on the other end. If you round your listing price down, you’ll land 1 Robux short of your goal. The Roblox gamepass tax calculator above also handles reverse pricing — type in what you want to receive, it tells you what to list.

What is the 30% gamepass tax used for?

Roblox’s 30% covers platform infrastructure — servers, payment processing, moderation, and the discovery tools that surface your game to players. It’s also their margin.

The rate isn’t unusual. As Roblox notes in their Developer Forum, the 30% Roblox gamepass tax became uniform for all users in April 2020 — previously, non-Premium users paid 90%. The current 30% has held steady since then. Apple’s App Store takes 30%. Steam takes 30% on the first $10M. Same logic, different platform.

What this means practically: the fee is stable. Price your gamepasses knowing 30% is the permanent cost of distribution on Roblox. It’s not going away, and it’s not going up.

Gamepass tax and DevEx — real money calculations

Earned Robux from gamepass sales can eventually be cashed out via Roblox’s Developer Exchange (DevEx) program. Here’s how the math chains together after the Roblox gamepass tax:

Standard DevEx rate (post Sep 5, 2025): $0.0038 per Earned Robux US 18+ special rate (as of June 8, 2026): $0.0054 per Earned Robux Minimum to cash out: 30,000 Earned Robux

Example with a 1,000 Robux gamepass:

  • Player pays 1,000 Robux
  • Roblox takes 300 Robux (30%)
  • You receive 700 Earned Robux
  • Via DevEx at standard rate: 700 × $0.0038 = $2.66 USD

At scale, 1,000 sales of that same gamepass:

  • 700,000 Earned Robux
  • $2,660 USD at standard rate
  • $3,780 USD if you qualify for the US 18+ rate

Common gamepass pricing tiers

What actually sells at each tier, and what you net after the roblox gamepass tax:

25–99 Robux — Small cosmetic perks: emotes, visual effects, minor badges. Net: 17–69 Robux per sale. Low friction for impulse buys; high volume required to accumulate meaningful Earned Robux.

100–499 Robux — Meaningful upgrades: VIP area access, speed boosts, extra inventory slots. Net: 70–349 Robux. The sweet spot for most casual-to-mid games. Players expect real value at this tier.

500–1,500 Robux — Game-changing passes: flight, all weapons, admin commands, permanent XP boosts. Net: 350–1,050 Robux. Requires a well-established player base willing to invest.

1,500+ Robux — Premium and endgame passes. Net: 1,050+ Robux. Works in games with dedicated communities and clear pay-to-win value. Hard to sell cold in a new game.

After the 30% gamepass tax: a 100 Robux pass earns you 70 Robux. A 1,000 Robux pass earns 700 Robux. Planning your DevEx cashout timeline? Check our Robux to USD Calculator → to see how many sales you need to hit the 30,000 Robux minimum.
